Canadian film nominated for 2012 Oscar for Best Foreign Film screens Thursday

The International Film Festival screens the Canadian film that was nominated for the 2012 Oscar for Best Foreign Film “Monsieur Lazhar” on Thursday, Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. in SSC 212.

Director and writer Philippe Falardeau presents a story of a public grade school teacher who commits suicide in her classroom, leaving an Algerian immigrant who is hired to help the students cope with the disaster, while also having to deal with his own recent loss.
