Athlete of the Fall semester

Lasers Chelsea Pavlik had a season that will live in on Irvine Valley’s recordbooks for years to come.

The sophomore from Mater Dei High School broke the IVC program record for most kills in a season Nov. 9, then proceeded to shatter it the remaining postseason matches to finish with 494, far surpassing Natile Dittrick’s 368 from the previous season.

The outside hitter, who the Lasers in kills in all of their 23 matches, also tacked up numbers on the defensive end. Pavlik finished with 282 digs to finish third all time on digs in a season, below only Lindsay Bledsoe’s 409 (2006) and Nicole Moon’s 348 (2004).

Finishing with 52 aces, Pavlik also sits atop the standing for most aces in a season, surpassing Denee Ezerins’s 50 in 2001.
