Saddleback loses to Cypress and Fullerton

In a tough series of events, the Gauchos softball lost to Cypress last Wednesday 7-2.

The game was close until the sixth inning with the score tied at two,the Chargers erupted four runs on key Gaucho errors. Starting pitcher Lauren Molina had a complete game. She gave up seven runs of which two were earned runs.

Charger pitcher Natasha Ruiz had three strikeouts in a complete game. She allowed two runs, of which was earned on a pass ball where the Gauchos scored. Sarah Bosshart was two for four on the game leading the Gauchos.

Cypress first baseman Vanessa Alvarado had two hits and two runs batted in, pacing the Chargers.

Last Friday, the Gauchos hosted L.A. Valley, Lauren Molina picked up her 15th win in relief in a 2-0 victory. Starr White and Megan Geier drove in the runs for the Gauchos.

Last Saturday the Gauchos fell to Fullerton 7-2. The Hornets had three home runs in the game, jumping quickly to a 7-0. Starr White responded with a solo shot of her own in the game.

Saddleback is now 26-11 overall, on the year. The Gauchos are 12-8 in the Orange Empire Conference this season.

The Gauchos will host Riverside for third place this evening at 5 p.m. Regional Playoffs will begin May 1. Look for final standings and playoff seedings online at www.lariatnews.com.
