The Saddleback College football team picked up its third win of the season on Saturday, as they defeated Ventura College 52-28.

The win was the Gauchos’ first against the Ventura Pirates since 2002, when they won 45-10. The victory also marked the first time since November 2012 that the Gauchos scored 50 or more points.

Quarterback Tim Belman led the Gauchos to victory with a season-high 465 yards and four touchdowns. Belman completed seven passes to wide receiver RJ Dedrick for 176 yards and two touchdowns, including a 73-yard-long touchdown pass at the end of the first quarter. Sophomore wide receiver Eric Lauderdale appeared in his second straight game after missing the first three weeks of the season, grabbing eight passes for 108 yards and a touchdown.

The Gauchos (3-2, 1-0 in conference) will play host to the undefeated Fullerton College Hornets (5-0, 1-0 in conference) on Saturday for their homecoming game. The Gauchos are 5-2 in their last seven matchups against Fullerton, their last matchup coming last season when Saddleback came away with a 44-29 win.
