This week was not a week for both Saddleback College men and women’s water polo. Both teams took a defeat against Orange Coast College.

Men lost 15-13 in the last quarter and women lost 12-5. An overall defeat for both teams.

“Their men’s team scored the two goals right at the end, the last one in the last couple of seconds of the game,” said Coach Jen Higginson.

A hard effort throughout the game was not enough to win against OCC.

The loss for the men snapped a four-game winning streak by the Gauchos.

However, the men attended a tournament this past weekend where they dominated on both Friday and Saturday.

They won 14-7 against Santa Ana and 13-10 against El Camino on Friday. On Saturday they dominated 14-6 against Santa Monica and 14-11 against Palomar, ranking them high.

Both the men and women hope to pick it up in the next few weeks in their upcoming tournaments and games.

The women’s team will be at Merced for a tournament on October 9th and 10th as well as a game against Cypress at Cypress on October 14 at 3 p.m.

The men’s team will be at Golden West on October 21 at 4 p.m.
