IVC women’s golf takes second

Hosting Irvine Valley took runner-up in the non-conference Irvine Valley Invitational on Wednesday.

Three strokes behind first place Santiago Canyon, the Lasers finished with 346. Saddleback followed with 352, and Santa Ana came in forth at 390.

IVC was led by Katie Parks and Val Watts, who both finished with scores of 84 on the par-71 Oak Creek Golf Course. The two Lasers were backed up by Courtney Schroeder and Alex Calvillo, who tapped in at 89 each.

Santiago Canyon’s Courtney Solomonson had the day’s low score, finishing with 79 to take home medalist honors.

Saddleback was led by Brittan Ruble, who finished with 83. The freshman was backed up by Gauchos Karolyne Crowe (85), Connie Gonzalez (88) and Heather O’Darrow (96).

IVC, Saddleback and Santiago Canyon will meet on the course again Wednesday at the Orange Empire Conference match hosted by Santa Ana.

The match begins 11 a.m. at Riverview Golf Course.
