IVC men’s soccer falls to the Rustlers, disappointing season continues

The Lasers’ men’s soccer team was frustrated once again on Friday, as they fell to the udefeated Golden West Rustlers 4-1.

The Lasers (6-11-2, 3-9-0) scored their only goal of the game in the first half on sophomore defender Alan Banda’s first goal of the season.

Freshman goalkeeper Robert DeVone had a good day for Irvine Valley, making six saves in the game. Despite that, the Rustlers were able to tie the game before halftime, and scored three unanswered goals in the second half.

The season has proved very disappointing for the Lasers, as they have made the third fewest goals (7) and have averaged the second fewest shots on goal per game (1.7) in the Orange Empire Conference.

The Lasers next game will not be any easier, as they will travel to Santa Ana Tuesday afternoon as they go up against the second place Dons (11-3-5, 8-2-2). Irvine Valley has lost three straight matches to Santa Ana dating back to last season, the most recent loss coming on Oct. 12 of this season when the Lasers fell at home 2-1 to the Dons.
