Gauchos brag two consecutive shutouts

The Saddleback Gauchos softball team opened up Orange Empire Conference play against Golden West last Wednesday, suffering its second loss of the 2009 season.

Dana Hermocillo allowed three runs in a no decision as Lauren Molina (4-1) suffered her first loss in a relief appearance giving up two runs. The Gauchos lost the game 5-3. Molina was 2 for 3 at the plate with an RBI. 

Last Friday, Orange Coast hosted the Gauchos, who won the game 5-0, and earned the team its second victory in OEC play.

On Monday, Saddleback achieved another shut-out against Santiago Canyon, 9-0, in only five innings. Dana Hermacillo pitched a one-hitter, while scoring three runs, and was dubbed the ‘star of the game.”

Saddleback improved to 6-2 overall on the season and 3-1 in Orange Empire Conference play with the win. 

Next up for the ladies taking  on the challenge of Cypress College at home this Wednesday at 3:00 PM.  The Chargers currently stand at 4-0 in conference standings.
