The Psychology and Psi Beta Clubs will help present TED Talk Tuesdays with a focus on suicide as part of Psychology week on the Saddleback College campus in on Tuesday April 15 at noon in SSC 212.

Each week different clubs, professors and guest speakers talk with students and staff about a wide range of subject in hopes of “helping people think more deeply about the world, maybe open our minds a little bit, come together with some community and have a wonderful free lunch,” said Audra Dipadova, director of student life.

TED talk presenters, Mark Henick and JD Schramm will be touching on the subject of suicide. The first presentation will be Henick’s lecture on “Why we choose suicide” that was recorded at a live TED talk in Toronto September 2013. The second and final presentation will be Schramm’s lecture that was recorded at an official TED Conference titled “Break the silence for suicide attempt survivors.”

According to Dipadova, presenters are asked to present about their interests and to go beyond what they cover in their classrooms so that students can learn more about them as people while applying the lessons learned.

“Our goal is to learn something new about each other and to learn something new about something interesting in the world,” Dipadova said.

All students in attendance will also receive a free lunch courtesy of Paradise Bakery, Dipadova said.
