Waking up on the morning of September 11, 2001 no one could have predicted what was to come. Two airlines were crashed into the World Trade Center along with another one into the Pentagon. The total number of people who died that day was 2,996. Most of which were civilians, but also included many military personal. A day that will truly never be forgotten in American history.

Faculty, students and staff got together today to share a moment of silence for those who lost their lives to that national disaster 15 years ago.

Tod A. Burnett, president of Saddleback College, invited the college community via email to attend the ceremony that took place at 9:11am.

To open up the ceremony Audra Leslie, a college student who takes part in the Young Americans for Freedom, lead the crowd in the pledge of allegiance.

Next, Saddleback College Police Lieutenant Michael Betzler made a speech about all those who gave their lives for those in need and also highlighted veterans who were attending the ceremony.

Erin Long, from the student development office, sung the national anthem, which she has now done annually for over a decade.

President Burnett put out flowers to honor the victims who died that fateful day.
