Red Ribbon job fair

Those interested in the health services certificates available at Saddleback College, he or she should attend the current red ribbon job fair on campus in the Quad.

Saddleback Project Specialist Human Services Peggy Dankin, said, “We offer four certificates in human services:  alcohol & drug studies, community-based corrections, human services generalist.”

There are resource’s on campus for those struggling with addition and students can just show up without notice.

 “Human Services started a new 12-step program for all addictions, Monday 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.  No sign up is necessary, just go to the meeting, ” Said Jana Koffer Registered Nurse Student Services.

Grants are available for mental health if someone takes sign language 1&2 and deaf culture and it’s history. Two types of internships are offered with 65-70 agencies involved.

The Red Ribbon club started in 1985 due to the killing of narcotics investigator, Enrique (Kiki) S. Camarena in 1985 by five armed men in Mexico where he was assigned.

Congressman Duncan Hunter and Henry Lorano, a high school friend of Camarena’s, started the red ribbon club and pledged to live drug-free lives to honor the sacrifices of all Americans who have died in the line of duty.

First Lady Nancy Reagan brought the cause to national attention in 1988 to show drug intolerance in our schools.
