Saddleback journalism and photography students will experience a behind the-scenes, hands-on experience at the Pageant of the Masters and Festival of Arts in a unique event put together for Saddleback student photographers, media and TV staff. Next Monday, June 2, advanced photographers and Lariat  staff will go behind the curtains and interview and photograph the famous “living paintings” and gain more experience in their fields to photograph the pageant and conduct interviews for the Lariat. The event was possible by the partnership of Saddleback radio graduate Kelly Bennett’s production company and the college. Bennett gained her first broadcast experience at Saddleback’s radio station, KSBR as a news reporter and anchor, winning an Associated Press award for “Best Use of Audio”. The objective of this event is to give the students the opportunity to use their skills, Bennett said.  The partnership of the Pageant and Lariat hopes to get more students enrolled in journalistic programs, Bennett said. The Festival of Arts is a nonprofit organization that produces The Festival of Arts – California’s Premier Fine Art Show and the Pageant of the Masters. The event is located at 650 Laguna Canyon Road, Laguna Beach, California.  Proceeds support the arts and art education in and around Laguna Beach.
