Gov. Jerry Brown signs AB60

Governor Jerry Brown signed Assembly Bill 60 Thursday morning, allowing undocumented workers the opportunity to obtain a California driver’s license.

These new licenses will be issued with the passing of written and driving tests, regardless of citizenship status. The licenses, however, will show differences from regular licenses and will not be a form of federal identification.

According to CBS, the licenses will begin being distributed Jan. 1, 2015.
