A fatal accident took the lives of two Mission Viejo men early Sunday morning. Both were students at Saddleback College.

According to the Orange County Register, Alexander Hugard, 19, and Andrew Gorum, 19, both of Mission Viejo, were killed instantly when the 2004 Kia driven by Gorum collided with a eucalyptus tree at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Los Alisos Boulevard.

Orange County sheriff’s spokesman Jim Amormino said a witness at the scene claimed that the car was traveling “at very high speed.”

Steady rainfall since Thursday caused wet road conditions throughout Orange County the entire weekend. Notes, flowers, candles, and photos placed near the site of the accident make up a roadside memorial just west of Trabuco Avenue.

“He was our only child,” said James Hugard, Alexander’s father.

Officials at Mission Viejo High School said that Hugard studies film and video production while attending there.

A public viewing for Alexander will be held Friday at Mission Hills Church, 24162 Alicia Pkwy in Mission Viejo at 1 p.m. followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m.

At 11 a.m. Saturday, a memorial and funeral service for Andrew Gorum will be held at Abiding Savior Lutheran Church, 23262 El Toro Road, in Lake Forest.

He is survived by his parents, Jeff and Linda Gorum, sisters Denise and Nicole, and a large extended family.

The Andrew Ross Gorum Fund has been set up at Saddleback College, where Gorum was a student, and in lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the college at 28000 Marguerite Parkway, Mission Viejo, CA 92692.
