Bridge 2 Engineering program recruiting students

Nicole Bullard

The cohort-based learning community Bridge 2 Engineering at Saddleback College will be recruiting students at the end of July or early August for the first cohort of the program.

B2E helps students help attain engineering majors and seeks to strengthen the numbers of underrepresented minorities, women and veterans in the field of engineering. Students will be given the chance to to explore careers in engineering and be prepared for the oppurtunity of transferring to an engineering program at a California State University or University of California.

Further benefits of the program include studying with a cohort throughout the program. Academic counseling, tutoring and intensive math preparation are provided as well. For financial benefits there is a $350 yearly stipend for books and supplies, as well as paid engineering internships.

Requirements for B2E include an interest in engineering, math or science fields. Active participation is mandatory, and only those who will be full-time students in the upcoming fall may apply for the program.

Women, veterans and minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. To apply online, it is available on www.ocbridge2engineering.com and are due June 29. For more information, contact Student Support Specialist Katlin Choi at (949) 582-4926.
