Christian Lander, author of ” Stuff White People Like: A Definitive Guide to the Unique Taste of Millions,” uses humor and satire to encourage his audience to examine their own stereotypical beliefs and to consider the impact of class, race and diversity.
Saddleback College’s Associated Student Government will present “An Evening with Christian Lander” on Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 6 p.m. in the McKinney Theatre.
“ASG wants students to be able to laugh at their flaws and at things that are normally deemed as politically incorrect,” said Sara Ghanbariami, ambassador of Diversity Student Council. “We believe that people who are able to laugh at themselves are more likely to grow as individuals.”
Lander is also the founder of the website stuffwhitepeoplelike.com, which receives about 300,000 hits per day. Lander is also author of ” Whiter Shades of Pale: The Stuff White People Like, Coast to Coast from Seattle’s Sweaters to Maine’s Microbrews.”
The event is open to the public and donations ($5 suggested for students, $10 for non-students) will be accepted at the door. Donations will go toward the purchase of backpacks for foster children through the National CASA Association.
