Academic triathlon to be held on Friday afternoon

Almost $4000 in scholarships is up for grabs. Students will meet in the Science and Math building at Saddleback College Friday afternoon to compete in the 10th Annual Math, Science and Engineering Academic Triathlon.

The triathlon will consist of a number of questions put together by faculty members of the MSE division. According to a press release from Saddleback, the questions will be on, “… subjects ranging from mathematics, anatomy, general biology, computer science, geology, marine sciences and chemistry.”

Entrants in the triathlon must be enrolled at Saddleback and must not have won a top prize previously in the triathlon. The press release states that the standardized test participants will be taking is similar to standardized entrance exams that students may have to take in the future.

The triathlon will take place in SM 104 beginning at 2 p.m. Friday. Participants will have three hours to complete the test, and the top scorers will be awarded $3800 in scholarships.
