The American Red Cross and Saddleback College’s Associated Student Government partnered on Monday and Tuesday hosting a blood drive in parking lot 9A to help all local hospitals in Orange County.

“We’ve had approximately 65-70 students show up and actually donate,” said ASG member Cory Takeshita. “This could actually save 210 people’s lives.”

When donating blood, one donation is one pint of blood or two cups and The San Diego Blood Bank keeps it local so all the blood donated will end up at Mission Hospital and Saddleback Memorial.

“We’re thinking about hosting another blood drive Nov. 9,” said Takeshita. “We’re also hoping to keep this going monthly so every other month someone would be able to donate blood since you do have to wait 56 days between donations.”
