Assistant Chairman for the Saddleback horticulture and landscape design department, Ken Lee, 55, finished the Long Beach Marathon in 4:30 elapsed time Oct. 13. This was Lee’s second marathon since he started training Dec. 2012.

This time Lee took pledges for donations to the Arboretum Trail Project on campus.

“Originally, I tried the Los Angeles Marathon because it was on my bucket list.” Lee Said.

Lee’s hope was to finish under four hours to qualify for the Boston Marathon in April 2014, but a twisted hip and bad knee prevented it. However he completed the 26.2-mile run with many cheering him on.

Wearing a T-shirt designed by the Saddleback graphic design department was Lee’s way of bringing awareness to the planned Arboretum Trail on the raceway.
