Photo contest for science and photography enthusiasts

The Astronomy and Physics Club is hosting a contest for “Best Astronomy” and “Best Physics” photo. The competition is open to all Saddleback College students. The deadline is May 2 at 11:59 p.m.

Winning images will be chosen by faculty and honored with a $25 gas card, as well as a feature at their next club event.

“We regularly meet students who do independent photography using their own telescopes or the Saddleback Observatory,” said Co-President of the Astronomy and Physics Club Al Jelvani. “It gave us the idea of starting a photo contest to give them a chance to showcase their talents.”

There is no minimum camera requirement though submissions are asked to include the following: type of camera used, a description of the photo, date and time it was captured and your name.

“This is our first time doing the contest so we expect about 15-20 submissions,” said Jelvani. “Students can utilize Saddleback Observatory to take their photos if they want to enter in the astronomy portion of the contest.”

Students may submit entries to the Astronomy and Physics Facebook page or email here.
