BRIEF: Sciences Building construction update

Construction continues on Saddleback’s new science building according to Walter Rice: director of facilities planning for the South Orange County Community College District.

Installation of the building’s t-bar system is complete on the first two floors and is being continued on the third floor.

Hydraulic piping on the roof is now complete, providing the integral system’s need to pump chilled and hot water throughout the building. All four of the air handler units are in place and are functioning.

Plumbing continues to be installed in the restrooms throughout the building, along with partitions and accessories. Lights also continue to be put in place.

Installation of interior drywall sections are almost complete in the western perimeter of the building. Accompanying casework is ongoing on the first two floors, with work on the third floor to begin soon.

Rough grading has commenced along the south elevation of the building. This is directly connected with Library Road & East College Drive. Construction of this is expected to continue throughout the weekend.

Installation on the storefront continues on the northwest and southeast side of the building.
