According to a flier found at the Saddleback College bookstore, the bookstore helps provide developing countries with clean drinking water through a youth activism organization called The Thirst Project.

“The Thirst Project is the world’s leading youth water activism organization,” said Seth Maxwell, founder of The Thirst Project. “We have implemented wells in 11 countries giving over a quarter million people clean water.”

According to Maxwell, The Thirst Project has made presentations at over 320 schools and has even developed four pieces of curriculum that teachers can use to educate students about the water crisis.

“Water is, I believe, a basic human right,” Maxwell said. “It’s catalytic in that it impacts every single element of community development.”
